Airy and refined, this bar and restaurant had its heyday in the late '90s and still draws celebrities on occasion for outdoor soirees. Mostly, though, it hosts a well-dressed, well-behaved clientele from the city and its outskirts. The bar's most stylish night is Tuesday, when the long-running Beige party attracts a handsome, fashionable gay crowd.
Fifties diner booths and loungy nooks fill the interior, but the hottest place to sit is the walled-in patio sparkling with tiny lights--a popular summertime setting for groups and private parties. The bar offers a martini list including watermelon, apple and cucumber flavors, but it's not always fully stocked, and the blends aren't entirely sophisticated; the ginger martini is somewhat overwhelmed by vodka as its sole base. |
